Fundraising in memory of Michael Ludlow

My Story

Michael - our beloved Dad, Grandad, Uncle, Godfather, friend, colleague, and neighbour  - passed away at home on 2 November with family and his dog Trudy beside him, after excellent innings of 89 years.

Independence, autonomy and meaningful human connection were important values to Michael. This perhaps fuelled his superhuman ability to care for his wife Sheila throughout her brave journey with Alzheimers; and later, for himself, to be able to live as independently as possible when his own health deteriorated.

For this, we have the local charity FiSH neighbourhood cafe to thank with their practical and social support - not forgetting during his last year - his carers Raj, Cho, Rana and Kathy, and the enabling aids and home adaptations provided by the fantastic service Medequip and Occupational Health staff.

The range of services FiSH could offer meant that a volunteer bought Michael's weekly shopping for him, Michael was able to mix with old and new friends at bridge or social events; and very valuably, his wife Sheila was able to travel to and take part in stimulating activities whilst Michael could have some time to catch up with himself away from his caring responsibilities.

Thank you to everyone at FiSH for the work you do.

Thank you for donating to FiSH, in Michael's memory.
